High Commissioner of Maldives to Sri Lanka H.E Ali Faiz paid a courtesy call on the Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force, Air Marshal R.A.U.P Rajapaksa, RSP and two Bars, VSV, USP, MSc (MOA) USA, MSc (Def Stu) in Mgt, MA in IS&S (UK), BSc (Def Stu), MIM (SL), AMIE (SL), rcds, psc. The meeting took place at the Sri Lanka Air Force Headquarters.
During the meeting, H.E. Faiz thanked the Sri Lanka Air Force for the training opportunities extended by the Sri Lanka Air Force, including the recent training of the two Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) officer-cadets at the Air Force Academy. H.E. Faiz also shared that MNDF was in the early stages of developing air operational capability, especially in maritime surveillance and in responding to emergencies and humanitarian assistance / disaster relief operations. H.E. Faiz expressed appreciation for the assistance provided by the Sri Lanka Air Force in training the MNDF officers and soldiers in this field.


Air Marshal Rajapaksa thanked H.E. Faiz for the meeting and assured that Sri Lanka Air Force always stood ready to provide any assistance required by MNDF and the Maldives. He further stated that in the current operational context, there must be greater synergy between friendly defence forces to better respond to mutual threats and concerns.
High Commissioner H.E. Ali Faiz was accompanied by the Defence Advisor at the High Commission of Maldives in Sri Lanka, Colonel Hassan Amir. The call-on concluded with the exchange of mementos.
