To mark the occasion of the 52nd anniversary of Independence of the Maldives a reception was organized by the Embassy of Maldives in Sri Lanka. The reception was held at the Taj Samudra Hotel on Friday 21 July 2017. The Chief Guest of the ceremony was Honourable Faiszer Musthapha, M.P. Minister of Provincial Councils and Local Government of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka. During the reception Ambassador Zahiya Zareer delivered her welcome remarks in which she highlighted on the close and friendly relationship that exists between the people of Maldives and Sri Lanka. The Chief Guest also spoke during the reception and reflected on the relationship between both Sri Lanka and Maldives.
The reception was attended by Ambassadors accredited to the Maldives, diplomatic communities, Ministers and senior dignitaries of Government of Sri Lanka and business community of Sri Lanka.
