The High Commission and Maldives Education and Cultural Center hosted a ‘maahefun’ to welcome the holy month of Ramadan 1444 and to celebrate the 9th Anniversary of the Centre, at the Maldives Education and Cultural Centre (MECC) in Colombo.
Honourable Vidura Wickremanayake, Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious, and Cultural Affairs of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka was the Chief Guest at the event. The maahefun was also attended by members of the diplomatic corps, including heads of missions, officials of the Sri Lankan Government and members of the Maldivian community living in Sri Lanka.

High Commissioner of Maldives to Sri Lanka, H.E Ali Faiz met with the Secretary, Ministry of Defence General (retired) G D H Kamal Gunaratne, at the Ministry of Defence complex, Jayawardenapura Kotte.
High Commissioner Faiz thanked the Defence Secretary for the longstanding defence cooperation between Maldives and Sri Lanka. High Commissioner Faiz also remarked on the importance of fostering strong defence and security cooperation relations between neighboring countries to counter threats such as narcotics smuggling, illegal fishing and other nontraditional threats.

High Commissioner of Maldives to Sri Lanka, H.E Ali Faiz met with the Chief of Defence Force of Sri Lanka, General Shavendra Silva, WWW, RWP,RSP, VSV, USP, ndc, psc, MPhil today. The meeting was held at the Office of the Chief of Defence Staff (OCDS), BMICH.

Maldives Education and Cultural Centre (MECC) celebrated the International Women’s Day 23 on 12 March, with an evening of games and activities for the women teachers and faculty members of MECC, as well as women diplomats serving in the High Commission of Maldives.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives, Abdulla Shahid met with His Excellency M.U.M. Ali Sabry, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka today.
During the meeting, Minister Shahid and Minister Sabry exchanged views on strengthening existing areas, and exploring new avenues of cooperation, particularly on trade, investment, education and culture.
