“It is a pleasure to see so many participants at Quran Competition” High Commissioner Omar High Commissioner of Maldives in Sri Lanka, H.E. Mr. Omar Abdul Razzak has said that it is a pleasure to see so many participants at a Quran Competition, speaking at the opening ceremony of Quran Competition 1442 organized by Maldives Education and Cultural Center (M.E.C.C) in Colombo.

Speaking at the ceremony High Commissioner also expressed his hope that the competition will be a great success and wished well for the participants competing in the competition. The competition which commenced today features a total of 132 participants from “general recitation” and “recitation by memory” category.
High Commissioner also noted that M.E.C.C. is returning to its normal programming, after a break in its activities because of Covid 19, and commended M.E.C.C’s efforts to return to a normal programming despite the difficult circumstances. “We are slowly returning to our normal programmes. We have already completed Madhaha Competition, and is beginning Quran Competition. Next up will be youth competitions” he noted. High Commissioner also assured that more programmes are in the pipeline at M.E.C.C.
