Condolence Message by Ambassador Zahiya Zareer following the demise of Maestro Pandit WD Amaradeva

Ambassador Her Excellency Zahiya Zareer has sent a message of condolence to Mrs. Amaradeva and family, following the demise of veteran vocalist, musician and composer, Mr. Pandith W. D. Amaradewa.

Ambassador’s message reads as follows:

“It was with great sadness that I learnt the sad news of the passing away of Maestro Pandit WD Amaradeva. Mr. Amaradeva was a distinguished Sri Lankan maestro and a dear friend for the Maldives who also composed the new melody of the Maldives national anthem. Mr. Amaradeva will no doubt be remembered for his great service to Sri Lanka as a musician.

On this sad occasion, and on behalf of the Govemment and people of the Maldives and on my own behalf I would like to extend our hearfelt condolences to you and your family.

At this time of distress, our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.”
